A Love Letter - For Chris

I text: “I love you”

He responded: “I love us… we can be the perfect couple when we want to be”

All these years, you have been there for me

My friend
My partner in crime
My lover
My business partner
My shoulder to cry on
My teacher
My buddy
My boyfriend

I always knew I loved you. But, when I fell, I fell hard. When it happened, it really happened.

It’s crazy how it feels old, but its new. It feels like forever, but that forever has already happened and now we are starting over.

My love is deep. But it’s hard.

Not hard to be with you, hard to be without you.

But, our lives are crazy. We are so busy. It’s so complicated.

But everything still feels right. It feels like everything will always be okay, from now on, as long as I have you.

It’s crazy how I feel for you.

Our love, what we have, it makes everything from my past feel like a big blur.

It’s like I was lost in the forest or something… and you finally found me and brought me home.

It’s like finally getting to that place you have been searching for… but when you get there you realize that you have always been there in your head.

The difference now is just that your heart finally found its place.

My heart found its place with you and I am happy.

I am in love... with you...

Quote of the Day: Relationships

“No relationship is perfect, ever. There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise, to give something up in order to gain something greater…The love we have for each other is bigger than these small differences. And that’s the key. It’s like a big pie chart, and the love in a relationship has to be the biggest piece. Love can make up for a lot.” — Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby

Quote of the Day: Dale Carnegie

When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudice, and motivated by pride and vanity.

Listen and Learn: Now Is the Time

Learning from everyone around you
You think you have something to give.... and you do
But it's not always about that
The bum.
The crazy.
The sad.
The needy.
The annoying.
The afraid.
The shy.
The lonely.
The angry.
Stop your voice.
Open your mind.

I learned a lot this year. I gave a lot. I took a LOT. I loved. I lost. I loved again. I broke. I gave up. I gave in. I let go. I held. I cried. I lost. I allowed. I forgot. I remembered...

And in the end, or at least in this place I find myself in now, I have learned:

Not to take everything so seriously.
To laugh at myself (an unbelievably hard thing for me to do).
To choose my battles.
To stay quiet when what I have to say is less important than the persons feelings I am saying it to.
That my opinion on things that relate to others beliefs are always irrelevant.

That advice is only received when requested and not to give any unless asked.
Approach is everything - a defensive listener has a wall up. When you want to confront someone about something tough - wait for the right moment and ask nicely for communication.
To enjoy every single second I have with my kids - and really REALLY see, hear and touch them.
Eye contact is SO important.
Hear people, listen and don't think about what you are going to say next - but only about what they are saying to you.
And, wherever you find yourself now, love you, embrace you, enjoy life... don't worry about what used to be or what might be. BE IN THE NOW.

A friend on Facebook asked...

Why are we convinced that other people (or even we ourselves) possess consciousness?

I found the following video, from the one and only, Eckhart Tolle... enjoy:

Quote of the Day

“Don’t keep the past in your mind. Don’t stress over the future. Because if you’re too worried about what has already happened and what might happen, you can’t focus on what’s right in front of you. The present is what makes the future and what helps you move on from the past.”

Quote of the Day

“People often say that ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder,’ and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves.”

Quote of the Day - Conan O'Brien

Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen. - Conan O’Brien

Quote of the Day

Our notions about happiness entrap us. We forget that they are just ideas. Our idea of happiness can prevent us from actually being happy. We fail to see the opportunity for joy that is right in front of us when we are caught in a belief that happiness should take a particular form.
- Thich Nhat Hanh
